PRP Scalp Treatment
Platelet rich plasma (PRP) injections and autologous blood injections take your blood and re-inject it into an affected area. These are often used to help promote the recovery of injured muscles, tendons, joints and ligaments, but are increasingly used as a treatment for hair loss by re-injecting the plasma and platelets into the scalp as well as for skin rejuvenation and anti-aging.
Scalp PRP starts with blood being taken from your own arm and then it is placed into a tube with separation gel which will isolate your platelet rich red blood cells from the plasma that makes up your blood. This tube will be placed in a centrifuge machine, where separation process will take place.
The end product is what we call platelet rich plasma or PRP. This solution is injected into your scalp to stimulate the growth of your hair by helping to facilitate the rejuvenation of hair follicle.
Scientific literature shows evidence that PRP works for hair loss and promotes healing by releasing growth factors, which come from platelets and are released to the thinning area the treatment is applied to.
PRP Scalp Treatments are typically performed once a month for three to four months, and then every three to six months thereafter, depending on the individual response and results, with first results be seen within two to three months.
